Para evitar malentendidos / to avoid misunderstandings
Recibí una buena pregunta de Robbert de Amsterdam, que no es el unico que se pregunta lo siguiente. “El Teaming no es lo mismo que los Match Giving Programs que son cada vez mas habituales en multinacionales especialmente en EEUU y UK?” Para evitar malentendidos quiero aclarar que hay una cosa pequeña en comun y el resto es casi lo contrario de Teaming… Cuando una empresa ofrece hacer ”Match Giving” a sus empleados significa que se dobla (por eso el nombre match giving) una micro donacion (la parte que se parece al Teaming) de p.ej. 1 Euro o unos centimos de la nomina para dar a una ong o fundación que elije el empleado individualmente. Es decir la gran diferencia es que con el Match Giving cada mes se hace muchas micro donaciones (dobladas por la empresa) a muchas fundaciones diferentes que indica cada empleado individualmente, mientras el reto haciendo Teaming es que se elije entre todos los participantes que voluntariamente dan 1 Euro al mes, a que proyecto solidario se destina la suma de estos Euros. Aparte de esto la empresa puede doblar la cantidad, pero tampoco es ninguna obligación. Resumiendo… el Teaming son micro donaciones en equipo y el Match Giving son micro donaciones individuales dobladas por la empresa.

I received a good question from Robbert from Amsterdam, who is not the only one wondering the following: “Isn’t Teaming the same as the Match Giving Programs you often see in multinationals especially in USA and UK?” To avoid misunderstandings I would like to clarify that there is only one small similar part and that the rest is basically the contrary of Teaming… When a company offers to do “Match Giving” to their employees it means that a micro donation of for example 1 Euro per month (the similar part compared to Teaming) or some cents of the payroll are doubled (or matched) and is individually donated to the ngo or foundation chosen by every employee, whereas the challenge of doing Teaming is that all participants who gave 1 Euro per month on a voluntary basis, choose alltogether to which charity project they donate the total of these Euros to. Apart from this the company can double or match this sum, but they are not obliged to do so. Summarising….. Teaming is doing micro donations as a team, and Match Giving are individual micro donations doubled (matched) by the company

Hoy me llamó Silvia de Radio Sabadell para concretar una entrevista conmigo sobre el Teaming para el martes. Yo encantado, cualquier oportunidad para difundir el Teaming es fantastico y espero que la semana que viene habrá un poco mas Teaming en Sabadell. Justo despues de la conversación con Silvia me llegó un comentario en un mail de estos masivos sobre la entrevista de Larry King en CNN (el programa de actualidad con mas audencia en el mundo) con ….. Paris Hilton! Primero pensaba que era una broma, pero despues me dí cuenta que esta entevista ha pasado de verdad! Sé que el Teaming (aún) no es un tema para el gran publico, pero me atrevo a decir que (lo siguiente suena un poco arogante …) yo explico cosas muchas mas interesantes que la Paris Hilton sobre su estancia en la carcel por conducir borracha. Simplemente una reflexión sobre como esta el mundo y sobre los temas favoritos en la televisión del gran publico…

Today I got a call from Silvia from Radio Sabadell (a local radio station near Barcelona) in order to concrete an interview with me for next Tuesday about Teaming. I think this is great because any opportunity to spread Teaming is fantastic and I hope that next week there will be a little bit more Teaming in Sabadell. Just after the conversation with Silvia I received a comment in one of these massive e-mails about the Larry King interview on CNN (world’s most watched news background program) with ….. Paris Hilton! First I thought it was a joke, but after a while I realised that this interview really took place! I know that Teaming is not (yet) an item for the big audience, but I dare to say that (the following might sound a bit arrogant) I explain much more interesting things than Paris Hilton about her stay in prison for driving drunk. Just a reflection about the current situation of the world we live in, and about the favourite tv items of the big audience…

I just received a very nice newsletter (in Spanish) from Betterbeyourself (part of Huete&Samhoud who are supporting Teaming in many ways) sent to more than 2.000 contacts in Spain and Latin America. I am sure that this way of spreading Teaming helps a lot. By the way the title as well as the contents of this mailing is very nice….it describes “the strength of an illusion: Teaming!”
Una mañana llena de Teaming e ilusión / A morning full of Teaming and illusion
A veces pasan muchas cosas positivas para el Teaming a la vez y a veces es dificil destacar una en concreto. Por eso un pequeño resumen de unas cuantas noticias bonitas que me llegaron esta mañana… Primero un mail de Roser confirmandome que ya esta moviendo el Teaming en Catsalud. Me envió la carta (muy bonita y bien explicado) que escribió a sus compañeros y seguro que habrá un resultado muy bueno. Despues estaba en un debate sobre Responsabilidad Social en Badalona TV y en el programa mismo me confirmaron otros invitados de MRW y BSA que ya estaban haciendo el Teaming y que las reacciones en estas empresas son muy positivas! Despues una reunión con Sergio de Fibanc que también dará los primeros pasos con sus compañeros y aparte de todo esto una llamada especial. Me pidieron si mi hija Monica puede colaborar en un libro benefico donde niños discapacitados hacen pinturas de su manera. Lo último no es un ejemplo de Teaming, pero simplemente me hace mucha ilusión como padre!_____________________________________________________
Sometimes so many positive things for Teaming are going on at the same time, which makes it difficult to emphasize on only one concrete matter. That’s why I hereby give a quick resume of some nice news I learned this morning. First of all a mail from Roser confirming that she is already moving Teaming within Catsalud, the Catalan Department of Health. She sent me a letter (very nice and well explained) she wrote to her colleagues and sure there will be a very good result. Besides that I was in a debate about Corporate Social Responsibility on Badalona TV and during the program I was told by the participants from the companies BSA and MRW that they are already doing Teaming and that the reactions are very positive! After that a meeting with Sergio from Fibanc who is working on the first steps to start up Teaming with his colleagues and apart from that a special call. I was asked if my daughter Monica could collaborate with a charity book, where disabled children make paintings on their own way. This is not a tipical example of Teaming but as a father this just gave me a very big illusion!

Acaban de hacerme una entrevista muy amplia del diario argentino ”La Nacion” sobre el Teaming y especialmente sobre mis experiencias personales (como la enfermedad de mi hija Monica) que han sido la base de la idea. Me ha gustado la manera de enfocar varios temas y sobre todo la última pregunta era buena o al menos original. Aqui esta, con mi respuesta incluida…
Hay gente que piensa que alguien que pretende cambiar al mundo es un loco o un iluminado… en cuál categoría se ubicaría?
Mas empresas y mas prensa / More companies and more press
Lo bonito de Teaming es que el proyecto solo necesita acción (es decir empresas y colectivos que lo aplican) y difusión para que cada vez mas gente sepa lo facil que es ayudar trabajando en equipo. Por eso hoy ya tenia un dia feliz, ya que me contactó Sergio de Fibanc para si puedo ayudar a poner en marcha el Teaming (claro que si!) y el diario argentino “La Nación” para hacerme una entrevista sobre la idea. Aqui estamos hablando de una empresa grande y un diario gigante, pero no hay que olvidar que es igual de importante que todo el mundo lo mueve, también en empresas y equipos pequeños, y que todo el mundo lo difunde, aunque sea contarlo a un amigo. Es mas importante pensar en este principio, en lugar de pensar en cifras grandes…

The nice thing on Teaming is that the project only needs action (i.e. companies and other teams applying it) and communication so that more and more people know how easy it is to help working as a team. That’s why today was a happy day, because I was contacted by Sergio from Fibanc asking if I could help starting up Teaming (ofcourse!) and the Argentinian newspaper “La Nación” for an interview about the idea. Here we are talking about a big company and a huge newspaper, although we shouldn’t forget that it is equally important that everybody moves the idea (also small companies and groups) and that everybody spreads the idea, eventhough you just tell it to a friend. It’s more important to bear in mind this principal rather than only thinking about big numbers…
Primer Teaming en colegios argentinos / First Teaming in Argentinian schools
Mi amigo Daniel que esta moviendo (y mucho!) el Teaming en Argentina y el resto de Latino America a traves de su fundación El Staff, me envío un ejemplo bonito de los primeros colegios en Argentina que ya estan haciendo el Teaming. En este caso ha sido el colegio San Eduardo ( http://www.stedwards.com.ar/. ) que esta ayudando de esta manera al la “Escuela Secundaria Básica Nº 45 de Dock Sud.” En ella, un gran número de alumnas tiene muchas necesidades de ayuda para poder terminar de educarse. Teaming es “micro donaciones en equipo” y el equipo logicamente también puede ser colegios aparte de empresas, otros colectivos…

My friend Daniel who is moving (a lot!) Teaming in Argentina and the rest of Latin America through his foundation El Staff, sent me a nice example of the first schools in Argentina already doing Teaming. In this case it was the San Eduardo School ( http://www.stedwards.com.ar/. ) helping this way the school “Escuela Secundaria Básica Nº 45 de Dock Sud.” where a lot of students need aid in order to finish their education. Teaming is “micro donations via team work” and logically the team can be a school apart from companies, other associations, etc.
