13/5: Al menos intentar / At least try
Cuando estaba en Buenos Aires el año pasado era un lujo que gracias a Daniel Nicolini me podía reunir mas de una hora con Henk Soeters, embajador holandés en Argentina. Gracias a este encuentro muchas empresas han conocido y movido el Teaming e incluso recibí una carta de Reina Beatrix apoyando la idea! Hace tres semanas cuando no podía dormir de repente recordé esta experiencia y a las cuatro de la mañana decidí hacer un mailing a todas las embajadas españolas en el mundo y a todas las embajadas extranjeras en España. Pensé que sería dificil recibir una respuesta pero siempre creo que si al final no consigues nada al menos lo has intentado. Durante unos dias no hubo respuesta pero una semana despues, cuando ya me había olvidado de este mailing, de repente empezaba a recibir mensajes muy positivos de embajadas españolas (en Honduras, Costa Rica, Peru, Japon, Irlanda…) que quieren ayudar difundiendo el Teaming a través de mailings o revistas y hoy incluso me contactó la embajada de Estados Unidos en Madrid para una reunión porque quieren aplicar el Teaming y difundir la idea a los americanos que viven y trabajan en España! Wow!! Hace años empezé a enviar mailings a todo tipo de segmentos pero casi siempre con resultados mínimos. Parece que algo esta cambiando!

When I was in Buenos Aires last year it was a luxury that thanks to Daniel Nicolini I could meet for more than an hour with Henk Soeters, Dutch ambassador in Argentina. Thanks to this meeting a lot of companies knew and moved Teaming and I even received a letter of Queen Beatrix supporting the idea! Three weeks ago when I couldn’t sleep I suddenly remembered this experience and at four in the morning I decided to do a mailing to all the Spanish embassies in the world and to all the foreign embassies in Spain. I thought that it would be difficult to get an answer but I always believe that if in the end you don’t achieve anything at least you tried. During a couple of days there wasn’t response but a week later, when I already forgot about this mailing, I suddenly started to receive very positive messages from Spanish embassies (in Honduras, Costa Rica, Peru, Japan, Ireland…) that they want to help spreading Teaming through mailings or magazines and today I was even contacted by the embassy of the Unites States in Madrid for a meeting because they want to apply Teaming and spread the idea to Americans living and working in Spain! Wow!! Years ago I started sending mailings to all kinds of segments but almost always with minimum results. It seems that something is changing!
12/5: Noticias desde la calle / News from the street
Estos dias me visita mi madre y combinado con el hecho que estamos cambiando el servidor pensaba que sería un buen motivo para estar desconectado del Teaming unos dias. Pero incluso con el ordenador apagado y solo estando con la familia recibo mas buenas noticias igualmente! Como ayer cuando en la calle me paró una mujer que de alguna manera me conocia para decirme que le encanta el Teaming y que hace un año lo ha puesto en marcha en el colegio de sus hijos. Me explicó que incluso han puesto el link en la pagina web de este colegio (ver http://www.joanpelegri.com/index2.htm ) y que ha sido una experiencia muy bonita aplicar la idea! Mañana miraré los mails otra vez pero ahora solo quería compartir esta noticia de la calle que es bastante significativo…

These days my mother is visiting me and combined with the fact that we are changing the server I thought that this would be a good reason to be disconnected from Teaming for a couple of days. But even with the computer switched off and only being with the family I receive more good news anyway! Like yesterday when I was stopped by a woman on the street who knew me some way to tell me that she loves Teaming and that she started it a year ago at the school of her children. She explained me that they even put the link at the web site of this school (see http://www.joanpelegri.com/index2.htm ) and that applying the idea has been a very nice experience! Tomorrow I will look at my mails again but now I just wanted to share this news from the street which is quite significant…

9/5: Lo que nos une / What is uniting us
Tengo que decir que no entiendo mucho de politica pero para el Teaming es una gran oportunidad que los partidos politicos unen a muchos afiliados que pagan una cuota y que se comunican mucho entre ellos. Esto es lo que debe haber pensado Sergio López de Madrid. Me escribió que es afiliado de UPD y que quiere proponer a su partido empezar el Teaming entre sus afiliados. Que buena idea! Ya he enviado una respuesta a Sergio con muchos detalles sobre cómo por ejemplo un colegio de psigologos hace el Teaming 100% voluntario y democratico a través de la cuota que pagan sus socios y comunicandolo via sus newsletters on line. Sergio me dijo que solo es un afiliado sin ningún cargo dentro del partido pero que lo hablará con la dirección. Alli esta precisamente la fuerza, moviendo el Teaming desde abajo hacia arriba tal y como pasa cada dia en mas empresas. Buscando una imagen de UPD ví que su lema es “lo que nos une”. El Teaming une a mucha gente por muy poco y al menos en este proyecto somos todos iguales. Da igual cual es tu visión politica! Muchas gracias y suerte Sergio, estamos en contacto…

I have to say that I don’t understand a lot about politics but for Teaming it is a great opportunity that the political parties unite a lot of members who pay a membership and who communicate a lot between them. This is what Sergio López from Madrid must have thought. He wrote me that he is a member of UPD and he wants to propose to his party doing Teaming between their members. What a good idea! I already sent an answer to Sergio with a lot of details about how for example an association of psychologists do Teaming 100% voluntary and democratic through the membership they pay and communicating it through their on line newsletters. Sergio told me that he is just a member without any position within the party but that he will talk about this with the board. This is exactly where the strenght is, moving Teaming bottom up as happens every day in more companies. Searching for an image of UPD I saw that their slogan is “lo que nos une” (what is uniting us). Teaming unites a lot o people for very little and at least in this project we are all the same. No matter what your political view is! Many thanks and good luck Sergio, keep in touch…

Ayer tenía una comida muy interesante con Marika Verheijen de Uniting People que organiza el evento ANH http://www.anheurope.org/ de Deepak Chopra y donde me han invitado a hablar del Teaming. El gran tema de este foro es la transformación social y personal y Marika me dijo que ellos sobre todo buscan la acción y no solo teorías. Por eso han invitado a mucha gente de empresas de todo Europa y será una gran oportunidad para generar mas Teaming. Hablando de acción… Me escribió Jordi Jove de la empresa Lireba con mas de 800 empleados diciendo que esta moviendo el Teaming y que realmente es facil de convencer a la empresa para colaborar. No es la primera vez que escucho que “una vez que empiezas la acción te das cuenta que hacer el Teaming es mas facil y bonito de lo que se podía imaginar“ De esto hablé mucho con Marika. La transformación social y personal empieza contigo mismo. Con pequeñas acciones como empezar el Teaming!

Yesterday I had a very interesing lunch with Marika Verheijen from Uniting People that organises the event ANH http://www.anheurope.org/ of Deepak Chopra and where they invited me to talk about Teaming. The big item of this forum is the social and personal transformation and Marika told me that they are especially looking for action and not only theories. That’s why they invited a lot of people from companies all over Europe and this will be a great opportunity to generate more Teaming. Talking about action… I was written by Jordi Jove from the company Lireba with more than 800 employees telling that he is moving Teaming and that it is actually easy to convince the company to collaborate. It’s not the first time I hear that “once you start the action you realise that doing Teaming is easier and nicer as one could imagine” About this I talked a lot with Marika. The social and personal transformation starts with yourself. With small actions like starting Teaming!
7/5: La mejor publicidad / The best publicity
Recibí una invitación de Matías Ripoll, Director de RRHH de la multinacional Doga, para una reunión con su Director General Toni Garcia porque quieren poner en marcha el Teaming y proponen que haga una charla para sus empleados para explicar en detalle la idea. Como siempre yo encantado y cuanto mas Teaming mejor! Matías me dijo que ha conocido la iniciativa gracias a Maria José Gasso de la empresa Gaes donde ya estan aplicando el Teaming, donde también he hecho unas presentaciones para los empleados y donde difunden la idea en su propia revista que es la mejor publicidad para convencer a la gente para hacer lo mismo. Lo que en el futuro también convencerá a mucha gente es una tesis doctoral respondiendo por ejemplo la pregunta “si las empresas en que se hace Teaming consiguen mejores resultados y porque?” Mi propia experiencia de los ultimos años da una respuesta a esta pregunta pero es mucho mejor si lo confirma una investigación cientifica. Es una de las oportunidades que estaba hablando ayer con José Navarro de la Universidad de Barcelona despues de hacer una charla para sus estudiantes de Psicologia Social. Ayer fue otro dia muy positivo para el Teaming, tanto a corto como a largo plazo!

I received an invitation of Matías Ripoll, HR Director of the multinational Doga, for a meeting with his Managing Director Toni Garcia because they want to start up Teaming and propose that I do a presentation for their employees in order to explain in detail the idea. As always I am happy to do that and the more Teaming the better! Matías told me that he knew about the initiative thanks to Maria José Gasso from the company Gaes where they are already applying Teaming, where I also did some presentations for their employees and where they spread the idea in their own magazine which is the best publicity to convince people for doing the same. What in the future will also convince a lot of people is a doctoral thesis responding for example the question “if companies in which Teaming is done achieve better results and why?” My personal experience of the past few years gives an answer to this question but it is much better when this is confirmed by a scientific research. This is one of the opportunities I talked about yesterday with José Navarro from the Universidad de Barcelona after doing a presentation for his Social Psychology students. Yesterday was another very positive day for Teaming, both at short and at long term!

A veces es dificil decidir sobre que ejemplo escribo porque recibo cada dia mas casos concretos de gente aplicando el Teaming o de fundaciones recibiendo ayuda gracias a gente como Daniel Coquillat, Financial Controller de la empresa Diamond Resorts. Daniel no solo esta moviendo el Teaming en España pero incluso lo ha propuesto a su compañera de RRHH Kimberly Perette de la sede en Las Vegas. Destaco este ejemplo porque Daniel conoció el Teaming gracias a mi charla para ex estudiantes de la escuela de negocios EADA donde ya he dado varias clases sobre la idea. Precisamente ayer me contactó Eva Garcia de EADA para hablar de otro paso importante: la creación de un grupo de investigación de Teaming sobre el impacto en las empresas y el tercer sector. Genial! También es muy buena señal que cada vez mas universidades estan interesados en el valor de Teaming. Por ejemplo hay un primer contacto con Dr. Yann Lecun de New York University (!) y esta mañana daré una clase en la Universidad de Barcelona para los estudiantes de Psicologia Social. Nunca me podía imaginar este tipo de desarrollo!

Sometimes it is difficult to decide about which example I write because every day I receive more concrete cases of people applying Teaming or from foundations receiving aid thanks to people like Daniel Coquillat, Financial Controller of the company Diamond Resorts. Daniel is not only moving Teaming in Spain but he even proposed it to his HR colleague Kimberly Perette from the headquarters in Las Vegas. I highlight this example because Daniel learned about Teaming thanks to my presentation for ex students of the business school EADA where I already have given various lessons about the idea. Precisely yesterday I was contacted by Eva Garcia from EADA to talk about another important step: the creation of a Teaming research group about the impact in companies and the third sector. Great! It is also a very good sign that a growing number of universities are interested in the value of Teaming. There is for example a first contact with Dr. Yann Lecun from the New York University (!) and this morning I will give a lesson at the Universidad de Barcelona for the Social Psychology students. I could never imagine this kind of development!

En los últimos dias había muchos mails de gente que aún no conocía el Teaming y he visto que una pregunta se repite mucho: “se puede hacer el Teaming con clientes, amigos u otros grupos que no sean compañeros?” La respuesta es SI, la idea se esta aplicando cada vez mas en colegios con niños, clubs deportivos, familias, estudiantes en universidades y otros colectivos. Hay muchos ejemplos en este blog que se puede encontrar en “entradas anteriores”. También hay cada vez mas empresas con un equipo pequeño de empleados pero dando la opción de hacer Teaming a sus clientes. Como Peter Read de la empresa Photocase en Berlin que tiene 250.000 usuarios que pueden participar voluntariamente en su Teaming o como Joan Planas del Movimiento Abrazos Gratis quién aplica el Teaming con las personas que pagan 1 Euro adicional por las camisetas que vende y entre todos eligen on line a quién darán las donaciones Teaming. Mientras no obligas a participar y la elección de la fundación sea democratica es 100% Teaming! In the past few days there were many mails of people who still didn’t know Teaming and I have seen that one question is repeated a lot: “Can Teaming be done with clients, friends or other groups not being colleagues?” The answer is YES, the idea is being applied more and more in schools with children, sports clubs, families, students at universities or other groups. There are many examples at this blog which can be found in “entradas anteriores”. There is also a growing number of companies with a little team of employees but giving the option to do Teaming to their clients. Like Peter Read from the company Photocase in Berlin which has 250.000 users that can participate on a voluntary basis in their Teaming or Joan Planas from the Free Hug Movement who applies Teaming with the persons who pay one additional Euro for the shirts he sells and between all of them they choose on line to who the Teaming donations will be given. Whereas you don’t oblige to participate and the election of the foundation is democratic it’s 100% Teaming! 4/5: Según los expertos / According to the experts
Leí un articulo muy interesante sobre el Teaming en la sección Tendencias de La Vanguardia (1 de mayo) que dice “según los expertos el Teaming es bueno para la gente que lo hace, para la empresa que lo apoya y para las fundaciones que reciben la ayuda”. No pedí copyright pero con permiso de La Vanguardia utilizé la misma frase cuando me contactó Isha Sesay del programa Inside Africa de la CNN. Ofrecen unos minutos sobre el Teaming porque segun Isha (otro experto) es un instrumento muy potente para las empresas y gente en Africa teniendo en cuenta que el Teaming genera ayuda estructural y directo mientras las inversiones de los participantes son simbolicas. Hasta ahora había poco movimiento de Teaming en Africa (aunqe en este blog ya he escrito sobre unos casos en Mauritania, Madagascar y Surafrica) pero estoy convencido que esto cambiará pronto y no solo por la gran ayuda de CNN. También baso este feeling por ejemplo en un mail de Ivan Radhakrishnan de Blantyre, Malawi. Aparte de que ya ha incluido el logo de Teaming en sus mails me envió un documento que me impresionó en que ha adaptado el Teaming a la moneda local (Kwacha) para enviar a todos sus contactos. El mail de Ivan transmitió mucha ilusión y su publicidad boca-oreja tiene el mismo valor para el Teaming que la noticia en CNN!

I read a very interesting article about Teaming in the section Tendencies of La Vanguardia (1 May) which says “according to the experts Teaming is good for the people doing it, for the companies supporting it and for the foundations receiving the aid”. I didn’t ask for the copyright but with La Vanguardia’s persmission I used the same phrase when I was contacted by Isha Sesay from the program Inside Africa from CNN. They offer some minutes to Teaming because according to Isha (another expert) this is a very powerful tool for companies and people in Africa bearing in mind that Teaming generates structural and direct aid whereas the investments of the participants are symbolic. Until now there was little Teaming movement in Africa (although at this blog I already wrote about some cases in Mauritania, Madagascar and South Africa) but I am convinced that this will change soon and I not only because of CNN’s great help. I also base this feeling for example on a mail from Ivan Radhakrishnan from Blantyre, Malawi. Apart from that he already included the Teaming logo in his mails he sent me a document that impressed me in which he adapted Teaming to the local currency (Kwacha) in order to send to all his contacts. Ivan’s mail transmitted a lot of illusion and his word of mouth publicity has the same value for Teaming as the news on CNN!
3/5: Mala suerte o suerte? / Bad luck or luck?
Estos dias he recibido tantos mensajes que es imposible contestar a todos aunque hay uno que me gustaría destacar. Entre los comentarios de ayer Janfri me desea mucha mala suerte en la vida… Pensé que tenía esta mala suerte en la vida cuando en octubre 98 nació mi hija Mónica con una malformación celebral importante. Pero pasó el tiempo y gracias a ella aprendí de cerca de las fundaciones, sus necesidades y su buena gente. Y gracias a estas experiencias nació la iniciativa solidaria Teaming que hoy en dia esta ayudando a mucha gente en el mundo sin esfuerzo de nadie y que estos dias ha crecido mucho por las noticias generadas! Recibí mails muy positivos desde Kenia, Malawi, muchos paises de Latino America, Australia, Estados Unidos (incluso me contactó CNN!), Indonesia y muchos otros sitios de gente que antes no conocia el Teaming y que ahora ya esta moviendo la idea. These days I received so many messages that it is impossible to answer them all although there is one I would like to highlight. Between yesterday’s comments Janfri wishes me a lot of bad luck in life… I thought I had this bad luck in life when in October 98 my daughter Mónica was born with a serious brain damage. But time passed by and thanks to her I learned closely from the foundations, their needs and their good people. And thanks to these experiences the charitable initiative Teaming was born which nowadays is helping a lot of people in the world without anybody’s effort and which has grown a lot these days because of the generated news! I received very positive mails from Kenya, Malawi, many countries from Latin America, Australia, United States (I was even contacted by CNN!), Indonesia and many other places of people who before didn’t know Teaming and who now are already moving the idea.
